This sculpture I created was made to depict the injustices of mental health awareness in my community. I chose to create a sculpture made fully of wire to show the feeling individuals feel when they experience mental illnesses such as depression, and how one might feel “caged” at the thought of having to keep all of this in and have no one to talk to. By incorporating aspects of literature through poems and quotes in different languages that I paper matched in the internal part of my sculpture I was able to add depth to this piece. Each aspect came together in the end to signify just what injustice means to me.
